2019 Junior Composers Contest Winners

Greetings Junior Composer Contest Friends!

I am pleased to announce the results of the 2019 Missouri FMC Junior Composers Contest.  Each participant is to be congratulated on their achievement.  Special congratulations go to the first and second place participants in each category; these compositions have been forwarded to Regional Competition (MO, AR, KS, OK, TX).  We wish each of these students the very best in this next level of competition. Regional judging should be completed by April 1.

Once again the judge for the contest was Dr. Michael Murray, professor of composition at Missouri State University.  We are grateful for his continued support of the composition contest.

There were 10 entries this year.  I continue to be amazed at the level of music produced by these young people.  There were compositions for orchestra, small ensembles, and solo piano.  Each entry is required to have an audio recording, and it has been a delight to hear these compositions.  I hope you enjoy this original piece, River, composed by 11 year old Evan Marshall which received 1st place in Class II.

Best musical wishes,
Terry Blair
